SEE HIS GOODNESS
(Psalms 27:13)
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
What's your mindset regarding the things that happen to you during the course of a normal day? Let's focus, specifically, on when things don't go so well. Do you complain when things don't go your way? Do you get frustrated when things don't flow according to your plan? Do you find yourself happy and satisfied ONLY when things work out in your favor?
I'm focusing on what happens when times aren't so great because people usually know how to handle good fortune. When times are troubled, we have a tendency to change our focus...for the worse.David's discourse in Psalm 27 concludes with a truth that we must understand and embrace in order to be successful in our walk with God. In the midst of trying times in the Lord, we must be committed to "seeing His goodness". In other words, we need to be able to recognize the move and handiwork of God AT ALL TIMES. There's nothing worse than being in the midst of adversity and being blind concerning the things of God. If we cannot SEE HIS GOODNESS, we will lose hope.
When our faith is tried and we find ourself outside of our comfort zone, we need to recognize that God is in control. We need to remember that "The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him" (Nahum 1:7). We need to remember that "He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber (Psalms 121:3). Romans 8:31 says, What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? No matter what is challenging your faith in Christ and His word, see His goodness. Ask God to help you become wiser in this area. He won't let you down.
