RESPONSE TO BAD NEWS
(Psalms 112:7)
He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.
We've received e-mail lately warning about various issues and attacks on this country, as well as against the body of Christ. Some speak of martial law. Some speak of uprisings related to Y2K. Some speak of gag orders coming against Christians regarding our faith and its proclamation. The enemy is good at spreading fearmongering.
The Bible speaks, however, about the heart of the righteous when confronted with "bad news". Psalm 112:7 speaks of "evil tidings" (bad news). When the righteous man or woman hears reports about issues that would strike "normal people's" hearts with fear, we shouldn't begin to panic. We shouldn't have anxiety attacks. We shouldn't lose hope and have minds filled with despair. The child of God, called by Jesus Christ, have a fixed heart. We put our trust in the Lord and look to Him for protection, guidance and comfort.
Let us not be afraid of "bad news", but let's look to the Lord, knowing that He always cares for His own.
