LOOKING FORWARD TO A CHANGE
(Philippians 3:20-21)
For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
In this passage, one of Paul's exhortations to the church at Philippi, he speaks of factions within the body of Christ -- impostors, if you will -- enemies of the cross of Christ. The enemies of God are marked by their personal earthly passions, being mindful only of those things that are temporal and earthly.
Those who know God, however, are marked by a different mindset. Paul states that our conversation (manner of living) is in heaven. In other words, true children of God are marked by a spiritual mindset -- being concerned with the things of God and glorifying Him in all things.
In accordance with this mindset is the expectation that a change is coming in our lives. We look for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. Isn't it exciting to know that He's coming for His people!!! When we are true before Him (in the inward man), we can't help but be excited about His return.
When He returns something wonderful is going to happen to those who truly believe on His name -- our bodies will be changed so that it is fashioned like His. We will be changed from mortality to immortality. Isn't that amazing and exciting?!?
Are you looking forward to a change? If not, it's time to seek the Lord while He may be found and call upon Him while He is near.
