Hot Prayer Issues
First Timothy 2:1-2 says, I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. Embracing prayer with regard to issues both in and outside of the body Christ is good and acceptable before the Lord God Almighty.
As people who embrace, respect and employ prayer as a means of accomplishing the work of the Lord in the Earth, as we become aware of certain issues, recognizing the seriousness and possible repercussions of a matter, many of us are provoked to prayer.
Yes, there are many issues that Christians should be presenting to the Lord in prayer -- so that we can lead a peaceable and quiet life in godliness and honesty as Paul stated AND so that those involved might reap the benefits of the prayer, hopefully unto salvation.
Check this page frequently for a listing of current hot topics. Some are what we refer to as "staples" -- things we should always embrace in prayer. Some are hot for the moment. We'll indicate and list them below.
CURRENT HOT TOPICS AND ISSUES FOR PRAYER
Updated December 24, 2007
Remembering U.S. Troops
As many military troops remain overseas, please remember the soldiers
and their families in prayer.
Inclement Weather
Let's continue praying regarding this season of weather challenges (hurricanes, tsunamis, etc.)
Hot Topics -- Staples
- Leaders in the body of Christ. They greatly affect the flow of Christian
activity today.
- Leaders-in-development. Never forget them. They're the leaders of tomorrow.
- Leaders in Christendom as a whole -- both in and out of the TRUE church
who associate themselves (verbally) with the Lord Jesus Christ.
- Leaders in the world. Remember, 1 Timothy exhorts us to pray for kings
and ALL who are in authority -- not just leaders in the body of Christ.
- Laborers for the harvest. Though the Lord Jesus encouraged this during
His ministry on the earth, there is no reason to refrain from embracing this
prayer today. The church is indeed in need of laborers -- men and women who
will carry out the work of the Lord with all purity, integrity and accuracy.
- Due to the degree of apostasy that exists within Christendom (e.g., misdirected books, TV and radio, the prostitution of prophecy), we can't do anything about the goats, so let's spend some time praying about the sheep that are being exposed to false teaching.
- Those in the body of Christ who are persecuted to the extreme. Please keep
in mind that our emphasis should not be regarding the subsiding of persecution.
It should, rather, be for those who are persecuted -- that they remain strong
and committed to the faith. Remember, Jesus prayed --not that we should be
taken out of the world, but that we should be kept from the evil therein.
- Let's also remember the persecutors in prayer. Who
knows whether or not someone may have another "Paul experience".
- Let's pray that the Lord will touch leaders of churches, especially in America, who are bent on competition instead of the work of the ministry. This is an old problem that is hurting the body of Christ tremendously.
- Let's pray for sheep who are in churches where they do not belong. Pray that God will deliver them from that setting because they need to get out or they are going to die.
- Always remember to pray for the sheep....everywhere!
Please join us in prayer regarding these issues. The Lord may place other issues on your heart. We encourage you to be faithful concerning them as we seek to reap the benefits of intercessory prayer for all.
