PUTTING THE WORD ON A PEDESTAL
This article is dedicated to illustrating the benefit of reading the word of God. We've gathered several scriptures that discuss...the scriptures. Simply put, consider the following scriptures and note/highlight the things God has ordained that his word accomplish in our lives. Take time to think about the thoughts, exhortations and effects mentioned in these passages.
- (Deuteronomy 17:19-20) And it shall be with him, and
he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear
the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to
do them: That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he
turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to
the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children,
in the midst of Israel.
- (Acts 20:32) And now, brethren, I commend you to God,
and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give
you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
- (Psalms 119:50) This is my comfort in my affliction:
for thy word hath quickened me.
- (Psalms 119:105) Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and
a light unto my path.
- (Romans 10:17) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing
by the word of God.
- (Matthew 4:4) But he answered and said, It is written,
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out
of the mouth of God.
- (John 15:3) Now ye are clean through the word which I
have spoken unto you.
- (John 17:17) Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word
is truth.
- (Ephesians 5:25-27) Husbands, love your wives, even as
Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify
and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present
it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such
thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
- (Ephesians 6:17) And take the helmet of salvation, and
the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
- (2 Timothy 3:16-17) All scripture is given by inspiration
of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly
furnished unto all good works.
- (James 1:21) Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity
of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able
to save your souls.
- (1 Peter 2:2) As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk
of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
- (1 John 2:5) But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
Again, consider these passages. Are you exalting the word of God in your life? Are these scriptures "alive" in your walk with Christ? Let's strive to let the word of God have free course in our lives.
